Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) Funded Training
Supporting Queensland's Building & Construction Workforce
Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an independent, not-for-profit, industry-funded body supporting workers, apprentices, trainees, employers and career seekers in the Queensland building and construction industry.
The CSQ Short Courses program provides targeted training in key competencies and micro-credentials to help workers and businesses address specific skills needs. Subsidised by CSQ, these courses are selected based on industry demand, industry consultation and regional workforce requirements.
CSQ funding contributes towards the cost of training and assessment for eligible participants, providing affordable and flexible opportunities to upskill within the construction industry.
Who the Program Targets
The Short Courses program is designed for participants working in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry who meet all CSQ participant and program eligibility requirements.
Eligibility
At a minimum, participants must:
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, or hold a CSQ-approved work visa.
- Have been employed in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry for six months or more.
- For Civil Short Courses, be 15 years of age or older.
- Be an eligible worker in Queensland, or an unemployed eligible worker who has been unemployed for no more than six months.
Who is an Eligible Worker?
An eligible worker is an employee or self-employed worker who can demonstrate primary and substantial direct involvement in the Queensland Building and Construction Industry, including:
- Residential and commercial construction.
- Building renovations and extensions.
- Building installation services including electrical, plumbing, flooring and associated trades.
- Civil construction, land development and site preparation.
- Major infrastructure projects within Queensland.

CSQ Funded Short Courses at Licences 4 Work
Are you working in the building and construction industry and looking to gain new skills, improve existing knowledge or re-enter the workforce?
The CSQ Short Courses program provides funding to assist existing workers with upskilling and cross-skilling through nationally recognised units of competency.
Please Note: Eligible participants may receive funding for a maximum of eight (8) short courses across Building and/or Civil programs during the program delivery period. A maximum of three High Risk Work units and three Mobile Plant units apply.
